Still with no electricity

These last four days has brought new meanying to my prayer life. I do pray for the needs of others and myself, but know days I am also praying a prayer of Thanks. For example:

Thank you Lord for my wonderful husband and who is so handy cutting way broken trees and he can even keep me warm by running a generator (what a smart man he is)

Thank you Lord for not letting any of my family members get hurt do to the ice storm.

Thank you for letting me spend more quiet time with my husband. I have been reminded to not take my dishwasher, washer and dryer, hot shower, blowdryers and even my vaccum for granted. I love and miss them all when they don't work!

On a brighter subject two of our granddaughters will be baptized this Sunday! We are so proud of them. They are beautiful and smart little girls.

Grace Kathryn turns 6 today

Today was Miss Grace Kathryn Mayes sixth birthday! Oh my she was just so cute and perky. She have give us six years of pure joy. It's hard to think that in six more years this sweet little girl will almost be a teenager...Oh Lord I can't even think about that. If only we could make time stand still for a while or even slow down.

By the way, My husband made is back just fine from his duck & geese hunt. After the long drive home he was still chilled to the bone but glad to be home.

Blessing to all and hope everyone has a good week. We have two grandchildren, one parent and one great-grandparent sick. Please say an extra prayer that they would be feeling better soon.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well it's one of the coldest nights of the year and my wonderful NOT so smart husband heads off for a few days to stand in ice-water and shoot a duck! YUCK ! His wife's idea...put on warm clothes, thick socks, gloves and hat. Drive to the local meat market come home grill it. Then be able to crawl into my own bed with my dog and husband. Men just do the strangest things but we women love them anyway. Hey at the Johnson's its never boring. It's almost like we take turns keeping the other one guessing what's up next. One thing for sure - I love this man ! God has blessed me with the perfect husband for me.

I hope everyone has a good and blessed day tomorrow. Do the unexpected and tell someone that you haven't talked to for awhile that you love them and was thinking about them today.

Love,

Brenda

T G I F

Wow what a start to the new year...kind of just like the old year ended - way to busy. I woke up early this a.m. and have decided that today is going to be a good day. Attitude has a lot of determination in just how our day will be so I am making an attitude adjustment for today. After all I have so much to be grateful for. Joshua 1:9 reminds me that no matter what kind of yuck I may face today, He is always with me.

I hope each of you will have a good and blessed day today and your weekend be even better!

Remember 2008 ......

It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. I am living the "quick-days" my mother and grandmother told me about when I was younger. When you catch yourself saying "one day I am going to .... (what ever)" realize one day will be here before you know it! So live life to its fullest, laugh every chance you get and most importantly love. Love your friends and family today like there is know tomorrow.

Below are a few photos from 2008 that I would like to share. Each of these are special to me but this first one is a photo that I will cherish forever. Not many families are blessed to have a five generation's picture. My grandmother has such a special place in my heart. She gave me the roots for my love of sewing and cooking. Her love for the Lord has always been a very important part of her life and she made sure my sister and I were introduced to Jesus as a young child. Then there is my mother. Oh my gosh if only every girl could have a mother like mine. She is the most unselfish loving person EVER. I have have NEVER heard this woman say anything negative about someone. When I would and have come to her about about an up-setting situation, she finds the positive. Looking for the good not bad is important to her and because of her influence this too is important to me. Next we have my beautiful daughter (she looks like her dad). Not only is she beautiful outside but inside she is just as beautiful. I am so incredibly proud of her. As a child and teenager she was such a joy. I can't even remember having to discipline her much, she was just a good child. If I could have special ordered a daughter from my Lord, she would be exactly what I would have requested. I know I can always depend on her. I love her so much. Lastly we have my grand-daughter ... WOW what a sweetie. I just can't get enough hugs from this little continuous source of energy. She is one of those little girls that tells it like it is (actually I have a couple of grand-daughter's that are talented in this area). Seriously she like her mother is a gift from God. One that I hope I can influence like my grandmother did me.
